Mission Brief
OPERATION RTB (Return to Base)
MISSION OBJECTIVES
- Return the USCGC Adak to the U.S.
- Establish the Coast Guard Cutter Adak as a museum showcasing Coast Guard history and the history of the Coast Guard in Florida
- The Adak will also serve as a 9-11 memorial for the entire Tampa Bay area
- Proposed homeport location:
- Downtown St. Petersburg at the Port of St. Petersburg
- Directly next to operational Coast Guard base (Sector St. Petersburg/ former Coast Guard Air Station St. Pete during WWII).
- Adak will be available to support Pinellas Park High School’s new U.S. Coast Guard JROTC program, by serving as a maritime/ nautical learning platform for students
- Adak will also provide a teaching platform for Sea Cadets
- The Adak will also make approximately 1-3 trips each year to different port cities around the U.S. to promote USCG history.
If we fail in our objective, a 9-11 memorial and artifact will become a trophy for a nation plagued by radical Islamic terrorism, human rights abuses and a complete disregard for environmental protection.
